I had a conversation with my brother the other day about something athletes have over others. There are many people with desire. There are many people dedication. And there are many people with heart. You will see these qualities in many people in many different fields. But there is something about an athlete, especially individual athletes, where they must do more to accomplish what they want. They have to have the WILL, the physical and mental drive to keep going even when its tough, it hurts, its extremely uncomfortable. I'm not saying that only athletes have this because obviously there are other people that have had to physically and mentally drive themselves against their situation, but I think athletes are able to play with this more in their lives. My brother was was a wrestler like me and now he is a rock star/musician/composer. When I see him on stage, or working to get songs done, it looks like he is getting ready to wrestle. He is preparing himself to do battle with the opponent (the song, the stage, etc) and then he goes for it and is able to adapt and attack to "win" the situation. His WILL to succeed is what is driving him differently than the other musicians that are out there. Everyone here at the Northern INFERNO is an athlete, and you get to practice your WILL everyday you work so that you can attack the rest of the world as well. Do you feel any difference? Complete the following:
Overhead Squats + some
*work with a partner, immediately following your set of 5 reps, do 2 reps at 80% of your 1RM box jump height, then have your partner put you to 90% for 1 rep, then 2 at 80% and 1 at 90%, then rest. The height should be changed quickly to allow for little rest between the jumps.
